Following in the footsteps of The Gathering and Lacuna Coil (goth-influenced "symphonic" metal bands with female vocalists), Nightwish was formed in Kitee, Finland, in 1997 by keyboardist Tuomas Holopainen. Initially attempting to create acoustic music, he recruited trained opera vocalist Tarja Turunen, but soon added full metal-band instrumentation.

I can't fuckin' believe it. No one recognized Mustaine's face. No one read ”MUSTAINE" on that tombstone. No one saw this when it was ALWAYS on television?! Hard to believe...

Anyway, this song was released in 1994, on "Youthanasia". The video was banned in USA allegedly because of the suicidal message.

In 2007 Megadeth released "United Abominations" which features a remake of that song, only this time it is a duet between Dave Mustaine and Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil.

After recording two unsuccessful albums with Christian rockers White Heart in the early '80s, guitarist/vocalist Dann Huff found refuge in session work, eventually becoming one of the most requested, reliable, and versatile players in the business. But after years backing everyone from Michael Jackson to Amy Grant, Huff decided to give it one more go fronting his own band, forming Giant with his brother David on drums, Alan Pasqua on keyboards, and Mike Brignardello on bass.

They eventually signed with A&M Records and released 1989's "Last of the Runaways", featuring a classic, melodic hard rock sound, and which yielded a Top 20 hit with "I'll See You in My Dreams." Record sales were sluggish however, and the band found themselves on Epic for 1991's "Time to Burn". Slightly more aggressive than its predecessor, the album still failed to advance their career, and the band soon dissolved. Dan Huff has returned to sessions, and besides working with countless artists including Shania Twain and Michael W. Smith, he has also produced two records for metal giants Megadeth.

Although often lumped in with the "Seattle Movement" of the early '90s (due to their sound, look, and attitude), the all-female punk band L7 hailed originally from Los Angeles. With Nirvana finally bringing punk to the mainstream, bands such as L7 suddenly became "en vogue" as the quartet was signed to Slash/Reprise, issuing their best-known album with the Butch Vig-produced Bricks Are Heavy in April of 1992 - which spawned the popular MTV hit "Pretend We're Dead".

Tyketto was one of the best and most underrated radio friendly rock bands of the rock genre. They were never able to reach the massive success they so deserved, with their brand of hook heavy AOR sung with majestic vocals.

They formed in New York by former Waysted vocalist Danny Vaughn, Brooke St.James (guitar), Jimi Kennedy (bass) and Michael Clayton (drums). The debut was an instant classic, sounding like a heavier version of Journey and Foreigner. The real talent was Vaughn's wonderful vocals, as displayed on the debut single "Forever Young".
