Quiz #39 - Accept "Balls to the wall"

Another week, another contest. Discount season still valid in The Netherlands. Drove "Dutch Boy" crazy. Tomorrow shopping by myself.

UPDATED:

With their brutal, simple riffs and aggressive, fast tempos, Accept was one of the top metal bands of the early '80s, and a major influence on the development of thrash. Led by the unique vocal stylings of screeching banshee Udo Dirkschneider, the band forged an instantly recognizable sound and was notorious as one of the decade's fiercest live acts.

Despite recording two of the best heavy metal albums of the decade in "Restless and Wild" and "Balls to the Wall", Accept remained too heavy and extreme for American audiences to embrace -- even when they tried to tone down their act with more melodic songs. Ultimately having conquered the rest of the world, but with their career stalled in the U.S., Accept fell apart, and by the time they reunited years later there was nothing left for them to say.

Holiday Quiz

And it's not the "holy" day quiz...

Here's how the story goes:

What is this shit stuff?
What is it used for?
What is its exact name?

Answer this and we might get it sent to your P.O. Box [if you're not afraid of the long arm of the law]...

All we can tell you is that it costs as much as gold. Per gram. :))

Quiz #38 - My Chemical Romance "I don't love you"

Who is it? Who is it?

Well, it's up to you to let me know :)

UPDATED:

Based in New Jersey, My Chemical Romance is an alternative pop/rock and punk-pop band whose name was inspired by author Irvine Welsh (of Trainspotting fame), and while many of their songs are loud, fast, hyper, and aggressive, My Chemical Romance's work also tends to be melodic and pop-minded.

Their third album, "The Black Parade", is an unabashed, old-fashioned concept album, complete with characters wandering through a vague narrative that concerns very big themes like death.

Quiz #37 - Franz Ferdinand "Take me out"

I'm going to meet lovely "Onion Soup" in a couple of hours. She's a Maastricht University student and since I'm going to be in Maastricht tomorrow and she hates going to lunch alone, there you go, perfect combination...

As for the quiz, this particular one expires next Friday, July 27th.

UPDATED:

Glasgow's art-damaged rock quartet Franz Ferdinand -- named for the Austro-Hungarian Archduke whose murder sparked World War I -- features bassist Bob Hardy, guitarist Nick McCarthy, drummer Paul Thomson, and singer/guitarist Alex Kapranos.

Franz Ferdinand's second single, "Take Me Out", arrived in early 2004. The single propelled them to greater popularity in the U.K. and laid the groundwork for the band's debut album. Franz Ferdinand was released in February 2004 in the U.K. and a month later stateside. Franz Ferdinand's success followed them across the pond; "Take Me Out" became a sizeable modern rock hit, in part thanks to the song's cutting-edge video, which earned the Breakthrough Video award at that year's MTV Music Video Awards.

Quiz #36 - Grinderman "No Pussy Blues"

Sooo... I expect you to recognize this weird fellow without much hassle. If needed, remove the sideburns :))

UPDATED:

After the epic proportions of "Abattoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus" double-disc in which Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds laid out two sides of the songwriter's melodic and ambitious look at both rock & roll and balladry, Grinderman sounds like a wild, nasty, wooly rock & roll monolith who simply need to let it rip and then see what happens. Along with Warren Ellis, Martyn P. Casey and Jim Sclavunos (right, 3/7 of the Bad Seeds),Cave and company turn in a squalling, raucous, twist-and-turn garage band set that takes on all comers.

"My face is finished, my body's gone.
And I can't help but think standin' up here
in all this applause
and gazin' down at all the young and the beautiful.
With their questioning eyes.
That I must above all things love myself."
